  • assist those who wish to set up their own webpages
  • exhibit my photographic works
  • provide a detailed background of John Twiname

Personal Details
I am a 38-year-old New Zealander living in Auckland, New Zealand. I am presently at the Auckland University School of Business studying marketing and management. I am married. I met my wife of 8 years in Taiwan while I was there studying Mandarin Chinese. I have travelled extensively throughout Asia and it was during this time that I developed a keen interest in language learning and teaching. I continue to have a keen interest in Asian culture (in particular Chinese culture) and languages.

Education
I am a graduate of The University of Auckland (1995) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Chinese. I am also a graduate of The University of Waikato (1996) with a Diploma in Second Language Teaching (Dip SLT). I am currently studying toward a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in marketing at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. If you'd like to know even more, feel free to take a look at my latest online curriculum vitae presently available for users of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Work Experience
I am now working at the University of Auckland in the International Student Office as the International Marketing Assistant. From 1989 until recently I have been working as a language instructor, mostly teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), at several language schools around the world. In 1996 I started teaching at the University of Waikato Language Institute in Auckland, New Zealand and began working on the Certificate of Attainment course. In this time I have gained experience in development, adaption and implementation of curricula.

Interests
It was at the University of Waikato that I became interested in the world of multimedia and the Internet. I am at this moment exploring how evolving technologies can assist in foreign language instruction. Nowadays, I continue to follow developments in the ESL field and pursue my interests in the information superhighway in my spare time. Since then, as a budding designer of Websites I have become deeply interested in Web and multimedia developments. I am interested in:

  • having students design and produce class websites
  • English and word processing
  • helping English language schools develop webpages
  • internet marketing for English language schools
  • computer assisted language learning
  • interactive language learning using internet multimedia technology
  • materials design and development
